Human Rights Conference on 10th of December, 2010 at Press Club, Jammu

Youth Parliament of J&K, a non-political international youth organization in collaboration with Youth for Human Rights International, New Delhi & Law Students’ Forum, J&K as on 10th of December 2010 on INTERNATIONAL DAY FOR HUMAN RIGHT organized a “Human Rights Conference” at Press Club Jammu.

The main focus of the conference was to promote Human Rights and bring awareness about rights and duties of citizens in that State of J&K and in addition to that DVD and Booklets from Youth for Human Rights International, Los Angles, California, USA was also launched.

The function was presided over by Eminent Journalist, Mr. Suhail Kazmi, Advocate Ravinder Sharma, High Court of J&K, Mr. Pradeep Dutta, Bureau Chief, Times Now, Jammu & Nadeem Qadri, Founder President, YPJK

Suhail Kazmi, while appreciating the role of Youth Parliament of J&K and said that the state of J&K is going through very difficult times as far as human rights are concerned and Mr. Kazmi stressed upon the role of youth in bridging the divide arcoss the state. He appreciates the role of Nadeem Qadri, Founder President, YPJK and his team for organizing a conference in order to promote Human Rights enshrined under Universal Declaration of Human Rights and in our Constitution.
Mr. Kazmi also focused upon the functioning of State Human Rights Commission and reaffirmed that SHRC being a nodal agency to look into the issues relating to Human Rights should not act as mute spectator vis-à-vis present prevailing situation in our State.

Nadeem Qadri, Founder President, YPJK while describing the role of Youth Parliament of J&K said that youth has to take the responsibility in the society and has to come forward, and contribute towards nation building through active participation in policy making in the State.

Mr. Qadri focused on Human Rights under the UDHR and its importance in relation to the overall development of the nation. He congratulated the Members of Youth Parliament (MYPs) for launching a HUMAN RIGHTS CAMPAIGN supported by Youth for Human Rights International, USA.

Adv. Ravinder Sharma assures all possible support from the Bar Association to the Members of YPJK in spreading the awareness about Human Rights in the State of Jammu & Kashmir.

Other Panelists which includes Adv. Tabraiz Qazi, High Court of J&K and also Ayaz Mughal of Sangarash RTI Movement also appreciated the efforts of the Youth Parliament of J&K & Youth for Human Rights International, New Delhi which aims at spreading the knowledge about basic Human Rights under UDHR and also in bridging the divide between various sections of society. The proceedings of the function were conducted by Surbhi Abrol with support from Tariq Qazi, Nusrat Habib, Qamar Qurashi, and the function was concluded by presenting mementos to the Guests.
